Jo McKay is a highly respected hair professional with over 30 years specialising in hair colour. Her International career includes the role of Global Creative Color Manager for OWAY, where she led the global launch of HCOLOR, art directed the hair team, and ensured creative excellence across all major campaigns. Jo developed and delivered technical trainings in salons worldwide, designed innovative Education programmes for stylists, and guided Creative Direction at International hair colour events. Her expertise was also instrumental in shaping OWAY’s social media and marketing strategies, sharing her creative vision and education leadership globally.
Previously, Jo was Hair Colour Specialist for Aveda in the UK and EMEA, overseeing colour development in 15 countries and driving the creation of Aveda Global Collections. She played a pivotal part in setting seasonal hair trends, teaching at global shows, and expanding Aveda’s market presence as Advanced Creative Director for Colour at the London Lifestyle Salon & Spa, where she also mentored Colour Educators.
Jo also served as Keune UK Master Colour Ambassador at the Central London flagship, developing advanced training programmes for the Keune Academy and supporting salon business growth through technical and social media education.
Driven by a passion for photography and film, Jo has created original hair collections, with published work in magazines, theatre, and short films. As an independent Hair Colour Consultant, she designed bespoke programs for individuals and teams, supporting salon creativity and business development.
Jo continues to offer expert guidance for shows, events, and social media shoots, helping professionals achieve exceptional hair colour imagery and supporting creative talent to reach their professional goals.
